Special trains run to Kerala as Sabarimala Ayyappan temple season begins - Southern Railway

The Sabarimala Ayyappan temple walk was opened last evening on 16th for Kollam, Mandal and Makara Lampu Puja. Next day (17th) morning Mandal Puja started. Devotees started thronging Sabarimala to have darshan of Ayyappan on the very first day. On the first day of Kartika, they wear garlands and start fasting.Thus, the Sabarimala Ayyappan temple is thronged by devotees.



In view of the Sabarimala season, 8 special trains will be run to Kollam and Kottayam in Kerala state. A press release issued by Southern Railway in this regard.



Secunderabad to Kollam on Dec 8, Jan 12, 19 at 3 pm, Dec 24, 31 at 4.30 pm, Jan 7 at 4.50 pm, Jan 10 and 17 at 4 pm, Special trains will also be run on Jan 14 at 2.40 pm. Special trains will be operated from Kollam to Secunderabad on December 9, January 13 and January 20 at 11 pm and on December 26, January 2, 9, 12, 19 and 16 at 2.30 midnight.


Special trains will run from Vijayawada to Kottayam in Andhra Pradesh at 10.50 pm on Dec 1, 8, 29, Jan 12 and 19 and at 4.25 pm on Dec 15, 22 and Jan 5. Special trains will also be run from Kottayam to Vijayawada on December 3, 10, 17, 24, 31, January 7, 14, 21 at 1 midnight.


Also, special trains will be run from Nassapur in Andhra Pradesh to Kottayam on Dec. 10, 17, 24, 31, Jan. 7, 14 and vice versa on Dec. 11, 18, 25, Jan. 8, 15. These trains will run via Renikunda, Gadbadi, Jolarpet, Salem, Erode, Tirupur, Palakkad, Coimbatore, Thrissur. It has been informed that the tickets can be booked from 8 am on Friday (November 24).
